Sea turtle egg theft prompts tightened beach surveillance

A national park popular for leatherback sea turtles to breed has tightened its security after more than 50 eggs were stolen from a beach in Phangnga province. Haritchai Ritchuay, the chief of Khao Lampi-Hat Thai Muang National Park in Thai Muang district, said on Monday the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation had ordered strict checking on the beach and visitors entering the park as it expected the creature will lay more eggs in the areas.
