Phuket’s Sirinat National Park to open again from Wednesday

Sirinat National Park, along the west coast of the north end of Phuket, is set to re-open on Wednesday, according to the province’s deputy governor, Wongsakorn Numchukan. It follows the re-opening of other national parks around the country 2 weeks ago after a 2 month shutdown initiated to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Man arrested for killing wild elephant in national park

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: A villager has been arrested for shooting to death a wild elephant in the Kui Buri National Park in Kui Buri district of this lower central province. Rakpong Boonyoi, chief of the Kui Buri National Park, said the incident occurred on Saturday while park rangers were driving the wild elephant out of a rubber plantation back into the forest.

Two arrested with drugs, assets seized

NAKHON PHANOM: Two men have been arrested with 42,000 methamphetamine pills and 100 grammes of crystal methamphetamine, or ice, in their possession and their assets seized for examination. Chatree Chanvirachai, the deputy governor, identified the two as Vichai Niwongsa, 29, and Veerapong Ngaonoi, 45, both from Tha Uthen district.

Man killed, another wounded in Korat shootings

Fresh bid to protect online consumers

A group of organisations has called for a centre to take charge of protecting online consumers as they faced no less risk of being scammed than customers in physical markets. At the Consumers Unite to Fight Online Scam seminar, the website of Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society said its hotline 1212 had received 4,000 complaints about online shopping this year.
