Health product importers face FDA legal sanction

More than 500 importers of illegal health products have faced legal action over the past year, says the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Secretary–general Paisarn Dunkum said the Consumer Protection Police Division has investigated importers of illegal and dangerous health products and arrested more than 500 of them while 250,000 online advertisements were also banned.

Chinese Automaker to Buy GM’s Thailand Plant in Rayong

SHIJIAZHUANG (Xinhua) — China’s leading sport utility vehicles (SUV) and pickup maker Great Wall Motors on Monday said it will purchase General Motors’ Rayong car production facility in Thailand. According to a binding agreement inked by the two companies, the transaction and handover, which include a car plant and a power assembly plant in Rayong currently operated by the Detroit carmaker, are expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

Most say 'no' to street protests: Poll

A large majority of people say they would say "no" if asked to join a political rally or a street protest for fear it could lead to the same kind of political unrest as before, according to the result of an opinion survey by the National Institute of Development Administration, nor Nida Poll. The poll was conducted on Feb 12-13 on 1,255 people aged 18 and over of various levels of education and occupations throughout the country.

2 more held in surrogacy ring

Suspects worked as brokers to lure 'wombs for hire'

Police from the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division have arrested two more suspects in an illegal transnational commercial surrogacy ring, police said on Saturday. Kulisara Pomdet, 43, was arrested in Chanthaburi and Jakkarat Kittiwanichkul, 60, was nabbed in Chiang Mai on Friday night. Police said the pair were hired by the ring to work as brokers to lure Thai women to work as surrogate mothers.

Dept pledges to complete Rama II roadwork before Songkran holiday

The Department of Highways (DoH) has pledged to complete construction work on Rama II Road before the Songkran holiday to ease chronic traffic congestion. DoH director-general Sarawut Songsivilai said the department has ordered contractors to bring in more heavy machines and speed up the roadworks.
