Loi Krathong (ลอยกระทง)
Loi Krathong 'the festival of lights' is not an official holiday in Thailand. This festival takes place on the day of the 12th Full moon of the Thai lunar calendar. Loi means something like swim and Krathong a small raft. That's exactly what happens: after dark, Thai people and visitors go to large lakes and waterways and launch small rafts, decorated with flowers and at least one candle.
