Fishing in Nong Khai, at the VS Fishing Lake Park

It was not easy to give a positive report on VS Fishing Park in Nong Khai. At the entrance to the venue there's a decent enough restaurant, but the lake itself is filthy, both the water and the banks. However, there are a large variety of fish species present and the determined angler should be able to ignore the squalour. The most common fish are Striped catfish, and if the angler can avoid these then theres a good chance to catch a Giant Siamese carp, an asian Redtail catfish or a big-head carp.

I have fished here quite a few times since September 2013 and the lake is not as dirty as described in the report on this lake.
The fishing is a bit harder during the colder winter months but you can still easily catch a dozen or more fish.
During the warmer weather it's almost a fish every cast but it's almost impossible to get through the pla sawai to catch any other species although I have seen a few carp up to 10 kilo caught. Most of the pla sawai average between about 2 and 7 kilo but there are some a lot larger if you're lucky enough to get through the smaller ones
