Wat Hin Mak Peng

A very nice destination is the Wat Hin Mak Peng! From Udon Thani drive towards Tha Bo, then further along the Mekong River, beyond Si Chiang Mai, about 115 km from Udon.

Udon-News thanks 'Maithai', a member of Udon News Forum for the following excellent report.

Wat Hin Mak Peng - Der Eingang

It is a very spacious area with several attractive buildings. The whole place is a meditation center for monks, nuns and lay people, and it is run in the tradition of Thudong, the forest monks. This is a unique movement within Bhuddism and is based on a much more ascetic life than in other monasteries. It is also one of the few temples in Thailand to have the title 'Royal Temple'.

Wat Hin Mak Peng - Die große Sala

A kind of Sala, which serves for funeral ceremonies for esteemed personalities.

Wat Hin Mak Peng - Der Chedi

The chedi with the statue of the revered founder of the monastery, Luang Pu Thet. Inside are his belongings.

Wat Hin Mak Peng - Aussicht auf den Mekong

The balcony overlooking the Mekong offers visitors great views. Also there is a great garden which is very well maintained, and a moderately shady jungle.

Wat Hin Mak Peng - Der Gründer des Tempels

Again, the founder of the place. That's it! Thanks for visiting - Maithai.
