Trilert Badminton Club Udon Thani

Here you can find the top local players practising, and at the same time interested farangs can play without sunburn and rain.

It's at 230/10 Atsahwahmit Road, Amphoe Muang, Udon Thani 41000.

Udon-News thanks forum member Maithai for this excellent report.

From the Amphoe Road, turn left into the small Atsahwahmit Road and then turn left after about 300 meters onto the main road at the back of the university. Further back on the large grounds is a parking place for the sports hall.

Closed on Sundays, unless by prior appointment (phone 084-3907700 to book). The whole area was privately built by the family of a top player for the promotion of this beautiful sport.

Directly behind the entrance there are showcases containing medals and trophies. After all, Badminton is a very popular sport in Thailand, and the women's singles world champion in 2013 is the 18- year-old Ratchanok Intanon, who comes from the area of Roi Et.

Badminton is played on 6 fully lit courts. During the day it's usually quiet, but it's very lively in the evening. Also children are trained in different age groups. Everything is very neat and clean, even shoe soles are to be cleaned at the entrance with a water pad, and then dried.

An hour's play costs 100 baht per person, and rackets can be rented for 20 baht per day. Shuttlecocks are bought for 40 baht each. Training sessions are also possible by arrangement, costing 300 baht per hour, and including coach, court, rackets and shuttlecocks.

In the hall there is also a breakfast bar with drinks, snacks and accessories.

Go - your lazy emigrants! Do some exercise! The Thais are always happy to see a few farangs.
