Songkran in Udon Thani 2014 - Day 2

Sunday, April the 13th, 2014

Today, on the main day of Songkran - New Year in Thailand - we were in Udon Thani at Nong Sim Lake.

Experience shows that it is there that you can be a little more comfortable when it comes to water fights. At the lake you can have a picnic, without being in danger of a sudden soaking. Unless, of course, the water comes directly from Buddha!

By late afternoon it was certainly hot and dry, but in the evening thick clouds appeared, and after 5pm we had some heavy rain and thunderstorms, which lasted until midnight.

Here are the best images from Nong Sim in Udon Thani, 13th of April 2014.

Head down to be shot on the moped, but hopefully never losing control!

After the 100th soaking sometimes the fun is over!

Water pumped from Nong Sim lake is not always used to fill water tanks on the back of pickups!

Nobody could stop these kids after they have been looking forward to this day for a year.

Warm Nong Sim lakewater showers,

sometimes dangerous for moped riders!

The more water, the better,

and after the water, spread colorful paint! A polish to remove the residue of colored or just white powder from car paint costs at least 2,000 baht!
