Baan Yoga

In Udon Thani you can find Baan Yoga, unlike Muay Thai - but not so very different in that it provides exercise and self-control!

Udon-News thanks forum member Maithai for this excellent report.

It's at 479/9 Soi Phromprakai - about 150 meters from the south-western end of the Physical Education Institute Campus, which is accessible from the Ring Road.

This is it from the outside:

The conversion to the extension has been completed in the last few weeks - before that the courses were held in private homes.

The roots of Yoga lie in India. It was originally a philosophical doctrine, devoted to mental and physical exercise - strength, flexibility and balance exercises to train the body, and at the same time, relaxation and breathing exercises and meditation.

These are the course premises. Bright, friendly, modern and extremely clean! Those bricks on the mats are known as yoga bricks.

Everything you need to practise modern yoga is here.

Here you can see the equipment for swing yoga.

This is Kru.Koy, the owner and teacher. She is 33 years old, and has been an instructor for various yoga styles for 9 years. She spent long years of training in India and has been coaching members of the royal family. 3 courses are offered every day, except Sundays.

8.30 - 9.30 am, 4.45 - 5.45 pm and 6.15 - 7.15 pm. Different styles of yoga are practiced daily at these times. There is a schedule which will help you find the right course for yourself. Outside these hours, private lessons are available.

Cost: For the first 3 months it's 1,200 baht per month, and then 1,000 baht per month. You can even come at different times every day. A tasting lesson coast 100 baht per hour.

Here Kru Koy demonstrates exercises for Swing Yoga, also called Aerial Yoga. Traditional yoga styles are practiced here, as well as Modern Ball Yoga Brick Yoga and Yoga Swing.

The majority of the students are women, mostly 30 years old or more. Some men are also present, but so far no Farangs - that can still change!

So - that's it! Balance of body and mind is still very important, but there's also  so many nice girls. But don't tell everyone!

You can find directions to the location on the map that is displayed underneath the article. There's also a link to google maps right above the map and the geo data coordinates for a nav device.
