24 Hours at Bungsamran

Last month we found ourselves in Bangkok and decided to visit the famous Bungsamran fishing lake, at Bang Kapi. We had a 24 hour session, and things started slowly during the day, with only a few pla buek (giant Mekong catfish) and pla sawai (striped catfish) landed.

We dined on some excellent Thai food at the BSR restaurant, then back to our bungalow for more fishing. We used bacon as bait and started getting bites straight away - mostly pla jaramet (pacu) and pla tepa (Chao Phraya catfish), the biggest being a tepa of 48.5 pounds (22kg). When we left in the morning we'd had more than 25 fish, nothing huge but very enjoyable nonetheless!
